Jackie
Rod--fiction writer, loving wife of a legal beagle, and mother of three children
who have blessed her with seven fantastic grandchildren.
Jackie’s motto is
“Blessed to be a blessing.” She never meets a stranger and loves helping others.
Her friends call her Joyful Jackie.
This
Atlanta native believes in the work ethic. She taught thirty-one years while
raising her family. Married to the love of her life, a retired federal judge,
she has three wonderful children and seven brilliant grandchildren.
She earned
Master’s Degrees in History, Psychology and Education from Oglethorpe
University, graduated summa cum laude, and is listed in Who’s Who of Colleges
and Universities of America.
After Jackie
retired from teaching her love of words and stories led her to begin writing
fiction. Many years have passed since the sixth grade when her poems appeared
in the school’s annual book of poetry. Now she is serious about writing stories
that reach into her readers’ hearts and is published in many anthologies.
A lover of words. Jackie says, “Some of my youngest and fondest memories are of stories, not
toys. A good book transports me to another time and world. Books let me feel
the sensations of heroes and heroines— her dark loneliness, his passionate
touch, a father’s pride and a mother’s grief.”
Jackie critiques
and edits manuscripts for her author friends, judges writing contests, and
conducts workshops for writing groups.
Jackie loves the idea of ‘word painting’ for description. “Writers should use all the senses to engage
the emotions of readers.”
Reading and
traveling enrich her life, and she jumps at the opportunity to attend writing
conferences and workshops all over the U.S. She belongs to Romance Writers of
America, Atlanta Writers Club, East Metro Atlanta Christian Writers, Georgia
Romance Writers, NOLA STARS, and Walton Writers.
